Katey Ewton took a cross shot from Tyler Pierce and put it in the net with less than five minutes left in the Regional Finals April 9 to put the Lady Eagles lead out of reach for Boerne, winning 3-1 to earn Salado’s first berth in the State Soccer Tournament.

Salado Eagles varsity soccer season came to an end in Burtnet April 1, where they lost to the Fredericksburg Billies 3-1 in an Area Round match.
Constantinos Loullis scored the only goal for Salado with an assist by Daniel Magadan
Salado and Liberty Hill were both ousted in the second round of playoffs. The Panthers lost to Boerne in the Area game 3-1. In the bi-district round, the Panthers crushed La Grange, the fourth place team in 26-4A by a score of 9-0.
In the first round, Giddings, the runner-up in District 26-4A beat Lampasas, the third place team in District 25-4A by the score of 9-0. Gonzales, the winner in 26-4A, beat Little River-Academy, fourth place team in 25-4A, 6-0.
Salado Eagles are 3-0 in district play after beating the Burnet Bulldogs 4-1at home on April 2, a game that was postponed from the day before due to rainy weather.
Salado Lady Eagles struggled at the plate against dominating pitcher Makenzie Carpenter on April 2, losing 1-0 to the Burnet Lady Bulldogs.

Salado Varsity Girls Track team won the Lexington Meet with 119 points. Academy placed second with 100 points.
Sarah Kelarek placed second in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.81.
Abigail Quick placed third in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 27.09.
Katelyn Robinson won the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:00.22. Brianna Washington placed sixth with a time of 1:06.13.
Kierstan Osborn placed third in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:41.46.
Samantha Bourque placed third in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 17.64. Mikaela Heiner placed fourth with a time of 17.74.
Sarah Kelarek won the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 48.89. Macy Thrasher placed second with a time of 50.12.
The 400 Meter Relay team of Sugar Hill, Sarah Kelarek, Abigail Quick and Katelyn Robinson placed first with a time of 49.97.
The 800 Meter Relay team of Mikalann Hayslip, Sugar Hill, Danielle McDaniel and Macy Thrasher placed fourth with a time of 1:52.83.
The 1600 Meter Relay team of Regina Dean, Mikalann Hayslip, Macy Trasher and Brianna Washington placed second with a time of 4:30.55.
Vaillancourt placed third in the Long Jump with a distance of 15-6 3/4.
Brittany Vrooman placed fifth in the Discus with a distance of 95-4.
Vaillancourt placed second in the Triple Jump with a total distance of 34-3 1/2.
JV Girls Track
Salado JV Girls Track team placed fifth in Lexington March 31 with 38 points. Lexington won the meet with 124 points.
Jordan Stockton placed fourth in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 14.07.
Jordan Stockton placed third int he 200 Meter Dash with a time of 29.42.
Cassidy Brown placed first in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:48.67. Erin McBride placed third with a time of 3:01.44.
Cassidy Brown placed first int he 1600 Meter Run with a time of 6:24.59. Erin McBride placed fifth with a time of 6:46.00.
Golf teams get ready for Regional tournament April 11-12
Salado boys and girls golf teams both placed second in the District Golf Meet played April 4-5 at Lampasas and Salado’s Mill Creek golf course, qualifying for the Regional Meet on April 11-12 in Corpus Christi.
The girls had a two-day total of 755, shooting 372 on the first day and 383 on April 5. Kristin Crouch shot 87 both days to lead the Lady Eagles with a 174 total. Molly Rodeffer following with a two-day total of 190, (91, 99). Jamie Rich shot 193 over two days, 100, 93. Addie Ashe shot 94, 104 for a two-day total of 198. Avery Hyer also shot for the girls with a two-day total of 220.
Lampasas won the girls meet with a two-day total of 664.
Aaron Torczynski led the boys to a second place finish behind Liberty Hill, which shot a two-day total of 660. Salado shot 352 on the first day and 334 on the second for an total of 686. Torczynski shot 85 the first day and improved six strokes for a 79 on the second for a total score of 164. Josh Peschel was on his heels, shooting an 85 on day one and an 80 on day two. Caleb SChwertner had a two-day total of 170, shooting 82 and 88. Bryan Lightfoot shot 187 over two days, 100 and 87. Trey Schaub shot a two-day total of 222 (105,117).
The girls will play April 11-12 at Oso Golf Course in Corpus Christi. The boys will play April 11-12 at the Lozano Golf Course in Corpus Christi April 11-12.
To get back to the Region IV tournament where they saw their playoff run end last year, Salado Lady Eagles had to get through the #1 Giddings Lady Buffs on April 5, beating them 2-1 at House Park in Austin.
