[Read more…] about Eagles shut out Travis Rebels 50-0It was lights out for Academy (figuratively and literally) as Salado beat the visiting Bees 52-21 in the Eagles' first home game of the season tonight.
The northern lights on the home side went out near the end of the half thanks to some kid who sent Salado maintenance staff scrambling by tripping a breaker or switch on the pole.
By that time, the Eagles had a commanding 28-7 lead over the Bees.
The Bees scored on their first drive, but would not score again until a couple of meaningless touchdowns late in the fourth.

Brown was bouncing his way toward a first and goal when Jones took the ball from him and ran the length of the field. His touchdown and the point-after kick gave Troy a 28-14 lead that was built on big plays throughout the game.

Even with 442 yards on the ground, the Salado Eagles fell to the Taylor Ducks at Eagle Stadium Sept. 21 for a 25-35 Homecoming loss.
Salado Eagles stymied a lackluster Austin Travis Rebels squad, shutting them down for no first downs while their ground and pound run attack churned up 344 yards of articificial turf at the venerable Austin House stadium Sept. 13 for a 42-0 non-district win.

From the get-go, Salado Eagles took control of their non-district rivalry with the Academy Bees played Sept. 7 at John Glover Stadium, leading off with Wrook Brown recovering his own on-side kick near midfield.

One moment, you’ve got it. A moment later, and like the seeds of a dandelion, it is gone.
Salado Eagles found themselves in that position as they lined up for a short 25-yard fourth quarter field goal attempt to take the lead in their season opener Aug. 31 at University of Mary Hardin Baylor Crusader Stadium.

Bryan: The Salado Eagles football team advances to the sweet 16 of the 4A Division 2 State Playoffs with a 63-14 rout of the Liberty Panthers on Nov. 25.
The Salado–Liberty football game played at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan raised eyebrows from the start as Liberty’s J.J. Slack took a reverse pitch from quarterback Bailey Brown and went right up the heart of the Eagles defense untouched for a 65 yard touchdown. Panthers kicker Jesus Landaverde made the PAT. Liberty took a 7-0 lead 15 seconds into the game.
