A concern to you and all Salado citizens! Don’t feed the babies or mothers!! This is the number one rule in managing the deer population.The fawns start appearing this month. Don’t pick them up. The mom or pop may attack you.

To the thief/thieves who took the 2 spinners from Sherrill Park on Monday, May 2…….. the spinners were put in the park for all to enjoy! I have always bragged on Salado as being such a great place where everyone respects things that belong to their neighbors. Guess you have just proved me wrong. Wonder if you would like for someone to steal them from your yard. You would probably call the police and report them stolen!

During a CNN presidential town hall on Feb. 3, an 81-year-old man from Concord, NH, with phase IV colon cancer, Jim Kinhan, asked Hillary Clinton what she could do to “help advance the respectful conversation that is needed around this personal choice that people may make, as we age and deal with health issues or be the caregivers of those people, to help enhance and — their end of life with dignity.”
Jim Kinhan is not alone.

House Sparrow
Many animals are habitat specialists, and as such, their range is often limited to small areas that support that a particular habitat. Other animals are habitat generalists, meaning that they can thrive in multiple habitats, and as such, their range is often larger than the habitat specialists. There are a few animals however, that take the term habitat generalists so literally that their natural range is huge, and one such animal is the world’s most widespread songbird, the House Sparrow.
If I have haven’t said it enough in this column already, let me say it again. Things in the natural world are not always as they seem. Oftentimes birders will rely not only on their sight for observations, but on their ears as well. However, when it comes to the official state bird of Texas, what one hears may not be the species that is actually present.
