CPL Chester G. Stoda
FORT HOOD, Texas — Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died on leave while scuba diving Sept. 2. in Kauai, Hawaii.
Cpl. Chester Gerhardt Stoda, 32, whose home of record is listed as Black River Falls, Wis., entered active-duty service in Feb. 2008 as a combat engineer. He was assigned to the 8th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade since July 2009.
Stoda deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in December 2010.
Stoda’s awards and decorations include one NATO Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, two Overseas Service Ribbons, and a Combat Action Badge.
