Christmas Stroll weekends Dec. 4-6 and 11-13
Salado will kick off its annual Christmas Stroll with a Main Street parade at 5 p.m. Dec. 3. Entries are now being accepted for the parade, which will begin at the corner of Royal and Main St. and proceed north to the Salado Civic Center for hot chocolate and cookies with jolly old St. Nick.
In Salado tradition, St. Nick will be the last entry of the parade, riding atop the Salado Volunteer Fire Department fire truck.
Registration is free this year. Deadline for registration is 5 p.m. Nov. 20. Entry forms can be downloaded from salado.com and mailed to Salado Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 849, Salado, TX 76571 or emailed to chamber@salado.com
Entry forms can also be hand-delivered to the Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Center at 831 N. Main St.
Entries in the parade will be staged beginning at 4 pm. at Royal Street and Center Circle. All entries must be in position and ready to roll by 4:45 p.m. No entry in the parade afer 4:45 p.m.
Parade Officials will be present in the staging area and along the Parade route to ensure a smooth and orderly Parade execution, and will have the authority to remove any entry that causes a delay, violates official rules, or fails to cooperate with Officials.
Some of the other rules to keep in mind:
Parade participants must adhere to assigned positions. Changing positions is not allowed unless directed by Parade Officials. Riding participants may not jump off and back on entries while the Parade is in progress. For safety’s sake: please do not throw candy or other objects from the entry, and no handing out objects to spectators. Violators will be asked to leave the Parade. Insurance and liability are the sole responsibility of Parade participants.
All entries are to be decorated to reflect the season. Fire proof materials must be used where deemed advisable. No Santa Claus entries allowed, as the Village will provide the one and only Santa.
Parade participants are expected to conduct themselves in a courteous manner at all times. The use/possession of all alcoholic beverages by any Parade participant is strictly forbidden. Participants shall not display, promote or campaign with any form of political signage, T-shirts, or literature during the Parade. No firearms allowed except for active military units involved in the parade and cleared through their commanding officers.
Any entry that intends to advertise their business or service must meet these specific guidelines: (a) Participants must provide their own signage; (b) Signs must be in good taste.
