CTC Continuing Education registering for November classes
Registration for Continuing Education classes in November at Central Texas College (CTC) is underway now. A variety of non-credit classes in exercise, business, home décor, cooking and other topics are being offered. Some of the available classes include :
Core Strength and Conditioning: Develop your body uniformly and correct posture while toning muscles and gaining flexibility. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels and is similar to Pilates. Wear comfortable workout clothing and bring a yoga/Pilates mat and a towel. The class meets every Friday, November 9 – December 7, from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. The cost is $15.
Aqua Zumba: Participants will get an excellent workout while splashing, stretching, dancing, exercising and having a blast in the water. This class integrates Zumba moves with traditional aqua fitness techniques to create a cardio-workout that also gives you body-toning in a safe and fun water-based environment. Bring a towel and wear a swimsuit and water shoes. The class meets every Friday, November 9 – December 7. From 6-7 p.m. The cost is $15.
Women’s Bellydance: Learn the ancient mesmerizing and entertaining form of dance that plays an integral part in Middle Eastern celebrations. It is also a fun form of exercise for students of all ages and sizes. Prior experience is not necessary. The class focuses on improving posture, flexibility and muscle isolations, as well as fundamental bellydance moves. You’ll also learn how to combine moves and dance on your own. The class meets every Monday/Wednesday, November 14 – December 12, from 6-7 p.m. The cost is $35.
Line Dancing: Learn basic line dance movements and dance floor etiquette followed by intermediate and high-energy advanced steps. Class consists of demonstration with music and step-by-step instruction. Students will get plenty of dance practice in order to master steps. The class is Tuesday/Thursday, November 27 – December 6, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. The cost is $25.

CTC CONTINUING EDUCATION NOVEMBER CLASSES – Add One
Garnishing Birds: Just in time for the holidays – learn to create a beautiful table by using garnishes made from assorted seasonal fruits and vegetables. Students will learn how to make birds of paradise and cantaloupe swans. Please wear sleeved shirts and closed-toed shoes. Bring an apron, a food container and $20 the first day of class to purchase a garnishing kit (unless you have already purchased the kit). The class is Saturday, November 17 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The cost is $45.
Dog and Cat First Aid: Being prepared for emergencies involving a dog or cat is the least you can do for your furry family members. This class teaches you how to protect yourself and the animal from further harm, injury or suffering during emergencies by teaching prompt, effective first aid actions and care. The class is Saturday, November 17 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. The cost is $75.
No Sewing Required: Have fun learning how to make a fleece pillow or blanket without having to thread a single needle. Spend approximately two hours on this project and walk away with a warm, cozy feeling. A supply list will be provided upon registration. The class is Friday, November 16 from 12 – 2:30 p.m. The cost is $119.
Water Fitness: Develop strength and flexibility while improving posture and body awareness in this aquatic fitness course. The class combines Pilates and yoga movements modified for the water. Included are shallow water exercises, wall exercises and suspended flotation stretches. No swimming skills are necessary. The class meets Monday/Wednesday, November 14 – December 12, from 6-7 p.m. The cost is $29.
Vinyasa Yoga: The word Vinyasa means “breath-synchronized movement.” The teacher instructs you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. The poses come together smoothly and become like a dance. Expect movement, not just stretching. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels. The class meets Monday/Wednesday, November 14 – December 12, from 1 – 1:45 p.m. The cost is $29.
