CW4 Derrick Anthony Walker

FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died of a long-term illness October 5, 2017 in San Antonio, Texas.

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Derrick Anthony Walker, 40, whose home of record is listed as Roanoke, Virginia, entered active-duty military service in June 1997 as an information services technician and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since May 2016.

Walker deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from April 2009 to May 2010 and from December 2006 to December 2007. He also deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch from May 2001 to June 2002.

Walker’s awards and decorations include three Meritorious Service Medals, two Joint Service Commendation Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, two Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, two Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, four Overseas Service Ribbons, and NATO Medal.
