Don Richard Welborn

Graveside services for Don Richard Welborn, 66, of Salado were held Friday, May 13, 2011 at Live Oak Cemetery in Youngsport with Bert Alpha officiating. Mr. Welborn passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at his home in Salado.

Welborn was born in Orange on September 22, 1944 to Thomas Houston and Mae (Leysath) Welborn. He married Frieda C. Willis on December 10, 1974 in Houston. Don had been employed with BWIP for 23 years as a machinist and as a correctional officer for Travis County, TDCU-ID Institutional Division for two years. He had attended Belton Christian Fellowship Church.

Welborn is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Glen Welborn.

Survivors include his wife, Freida of Salado; two sons, Joseph K. Crawford and James B. Welborn, both of Salado; one daughter, Sharon J. Welborn-Alpha and husband Bert of Salado; two brothers, Alton Welborn of Glenana Park and Jimmy Welborn of Houston; one sister, Sally Fuselier of La Porte; and four grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of arrangements.
