Donald Franklin “Don” Simonton, 82, passed away on August 27, 2024. A visitation with the family will be on Friday, September 6, from 4:30pm until the Celebration of Life service begins at 6:30pm. The services will be held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, TX.
The family asks that you write down your favorite memory of Don and bring with you to leave in his memory box to share with them.
Don was born on October 22, 1941 in Temple, Texas. He grew up in the area and throughout his life he lived in Temple, Belton, Austin, Houston, Salado, Lampasas and then Magnolia.
Don spent most of his life employed as a bookkeeper. Don was quiet but friendly, and he never met a stranger. He was kind hearted and adored his children. He also loved when he could be around children or any type of animal. He enjoyed spending time outdoors sipping his coffee. Don never passed up an opportunity to go to the mountains or the beach, and he loved fishing. He was an avid fan of the Temple Wildcat football team and loved seeing their games.
Don will be forever remembered and greatly missed by his daughter Misti Harmon (husband Gary), son Dennis Simonton (wife Kathi), son Dwayne Simonton (wife Brenda), and son Phillip Knox. his beloved grandchildren Ian Brittany, Deanna, and Kimberly. He is also survived by his sisters Pegi Jones, Nancy Spivey (husband Marvin), Cathy Harris (husband Clint), nieces and nephews Teresa, Traci, Terry Jr, Jennifer, Josh, Jill and a host of friends and family.
Family members already in Heaven include his mom, Rubye Jean Simonton, his dad “Paw-Paw” Sam Simonton, brother Terry; sister Linda, and uncle Sonny and many other beloved friends and family members.
