Donald G. Hughes

Services for Donald G. Hughes, 63 of Harker Heights will be 2:30PM, Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Broecker Funeral Home, Salado, TX. with Jerry Hughes officiating.  Visitation will proceed the service starting at 1:00PM.

Burial will be at Texas State Veteran Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Hughes died February 15, 2010 at a local hospital.

He was born January 18, 1947 in Temple, TX. to Marion Duty and David Hughes.

Don graduated San Jacinto College with an Associates Degree in Business Management.  He joined the Army in 1964 and served in Munich, Germany and the Viet Nam Conflict.  He was honorably discharged in 1972.

He was self employed most of his life as a mechanic.

Don married Joane Carol Davis on January 7, 1997.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie David Hughes and infant daughter, Doniella.

He is survived by his wife, his sister, Marvella Ochs of Tennessee; sons: Robert Hughes of Arizona and William Hughes of Salado, TX; stepsons: Allan Merrick of Pasadena, TX and Brian Merrick of Arizona.  Daughters: Ronnie Gail Ross of Killeen, Sue Hughes of Arizona and stepdaughters: Kim Gidley of Morgan’s Point and Sabine Maigatter of Arizona; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
