Sergeant First Class Donald Wayne Jones
FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive Jan. 10 2011 in a hotel room in Dallas. The cause of death is unknown.
Sergeant First Class Donald Wayne Jones, 50, whose home of record is Dallas, joined the military in November 1989 as a chaplain assistant and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Hood, since December 2009.
Jones deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm from August 1990 to March 1991, Operations in Kuwait from September 2002 to June 2003 and January 2004 to March 2004. He also deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from August 2004 to December 2004.
Jones’ awards and decorations include three Meritorious Service Medals, six Army Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, six Army Achievement Medals, five Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, two Southwest Asia Service Medals with bronze service stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon with numeral three, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbons, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal, Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.
