Salado Eagles breezed to two easy wins last week over district opponents Jarrell Cougars and Academy Bees.

Salado stung the Academy Bees for six goals at home Feb. 12, winning easily 6-1. The win improves Salado’s record to 10-4 and 3-1 in district play.
Defender Camden LaCanne scored two goals for Salado. Also scoring were outside midfielders Armando Castillo and John Dawson and forwards Manuel Magadan and Costa Loullis, midfielder Brandon Rodriguez. Midfielder Scout Pucket had an assist.
“The boys are working hard and playing very well together as a team,” Coach Michael Goos said. “This is a hard-working and talented group of young men and every game shows that practice is paying off because they get better and better.”

Salado Eagles welcomed the Jarrell Cougars to competitive high school soccer by crushing them 6-0 in a district home match on Feb. 9.
Costas Louliss led the Eagles scoring three of the team’s six goals. Forwards Manuel Magadan and Jack Spradlen and Outside Midfielder Armando Castillo each scored a goal for Salado.
Assists were given by Forward Alex Carmona, outside midfielders John Dawson and Manuel Tonches.
“It was an interesting game,” Loullis said. “We played our hearts out, and the team didn’t give up even when we were tired.”

Salado JV Eagles soccer team hosted Jarrell Feb 9 and won 7-0. Sam Shearer scored three goals and had one assist. Jose Olvera scored one goal and had an assist. James Armas, Connor Cook and Coby Arguellez scored the remaining three goals. Moses Perez was credited with two assists and Hunter Haas and Jessie Rubianes were credited with one assist each.

Salado JV boys lost a home game to Gonzales 2-4 in a tough match Feb. 11.
Salado had the opportunity to even the match on two different penalty kicks but could not find the back of the net that evening. Sam Shearer scored both goals for Salado on an assist each from Jose Olvera and Moses Perez.
The Salado JV plays Lampasas Burnet on Feb. 19 in Salado.
