Salado Eagles competed in the East Travis County baseball tournament March 12-14, winning four of six games, losing only to the 6A Leander Rouse Raiders and the 5A Leander Lions.

Cody Wolff singled with Preston Payne on third and Jacob Little on second in the top of the sixth inning to take a narrow 2-1 lead in the final round of the East Travis Tournament March 14, holding on for the win.
Payne singled to lead off the inning and went to third on a double by Jacob Little that went to deep left. Wolf drove both runners across the plate with a full-count single to center field.
Colton Price got the win for the Eagles, coming in for the final two innings. He was able to force two batters into ground outs with Rouse’s Heinzke stuck on second.
Little started the game for Salado, allowing an earned run in the first inning. He faced 25 batters, striking out two and allowing four hits.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal High School scored three meaningless runs in the sixth inning of Salado’s dominant 9-3 win over the Crusaders on March 14.
The Eagles scored a run in the first inning after Barret Snyder hit a double and advanced to third on a passed ball, scoring on a groundout to the first baseman by Cody Wolf.
Salado added four runs in the second. Chase Basham walked to lead off, followed by a single by Ryan Dunnahoo and and error allowed Colton Price to reach second and both runners to cross the plate. Colby Gilpin walked and Price and Gilpin stole bases before Peyton Kyburz plated both runners with a single to deep right.
Salado added two runs in an error-filled third frame.
Wolf singled to lead off the bottom of the fifth and advanced on a wild pitch before scoring on two ground-outs.
Price singled to lead off the bottom of the sixth, stealing second. He was sent to third on a Gilpin single and scored on a single by Kyburz.
Josh Carbajal earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings and facing 20 batters. He allowed one run and struck out six.
Wilk pitched in relief, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Salado scored four runs in the top of the fifth on the way to a 7-2 win over the Rockdale Tigers in the East Travis County tournament on March 13.
Barret Snyder led off the fifth with a walk and went to third on a double by Jacob Wilk. Kyle King was hit by a pitch and Jacob Little hit a two-run triple, scoring on a sacrifice bunt by Cody Wolf.
The Eagles added two runs in the sixth. Chase Basham singled and scored on a double by Zach Marsh. Snyder followed with a double to plate Marsh.
Wolf scored in the seventh after hitting a double. Marsh hit a double to drive the run across the plate.
Nic Vreeland doubled with one out in the seventh to score two runners for Rockdale. Gilpin pitched five innings for the win for Salado, striking out two and allowing five hits. Price pirched in relief, striking out four and giving up two hits and two earned runs.
The Eagles tallied 10 hits on three Rockdale pitchers.

The Leander Lions handed Salado a loss in the second round of the East Travis County baseball tournament March 12 collecting eight hits off of two Eagles pitchers.
The Raiders held an 8-1 lead after three innings, scoring four runs in the bottom of the second and three in the bottom of the third.
Ryan Dunnahoo came into the game with two outs in the second to relieve Chase Basham on the mound, who had given up eight runs on six hits and struck out one batter.
Dunnahoo allowed just one more run in the fourth inning to score and struck out four batters.
Salado left five runners on the bases during the game. The Eagles collected seven hits off of two pitchers for Leander.
Preston Payne led the batters with two hits in two at-bats. Garrett Ligthfoot had two hits in three at-bats. Also collecting hits were Colby Gilpin, Kyle King, Dunnahoo, Cody Wolf and Barrett Snyder.
Snyder singled to lead off the third inning for the Eagles, trailing 5-0. Dunnahoo came in as a courtesy runner and went to second on a ground out to the Leander first baseman by Carbajal. With two outs in the inning, Preston Payne hit a single to deep center field, scoring Dunnahoo on the throw.
Wolff reached on a fielder’s choice advancing on a walk and a fielder’s choice before scoring on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.

Salado Eagles only needed the first inning to put away Chisholm Trail High School in the first round of the East Travis County baseball tournament on March 12, scoring four runs on the way to an 8-2 win.
Jacob Little doubled with Preston Payne on base after being hit by the pitcher. Payne was thrown out at home but put runners at the corners on a fielder’s choice by Chase Basham. Garrett Lightfoot singled to drive in Little and runners reached second and third on the throw.
Cody Wolff singled to score Basham and Lightfoot scored on a sacrifice bunt by Barrett Snyder.
Wolf scored on an error before Chisholm Trail could record two outs with the bases loaded.
Chisholm Trail scored in the top of the fifth. Tye Norris singled and went to second on a groundout before scoring on a wild pitch. A walk, a single by Seth Lincoln and two errors allowed Daniel Ramirez to score.
Salado responded by scoring four runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth. Preston Payne led off with a double and Chase Basham was hit by a pitch with one out. Basham stole second and both runners scored on a double by Cody Wolff. Snyder reached on a walk and stole second base while Wolf stole third. Jacob Wilk hit a triple to plate both runners before Chisholm Trail pitcher Jorge Rodriguez recorded a strike out to end the inning. Wolf led the batting with two hits, two RBIs and two runs on three appearances at the plate. Wilk had two hits and 2 RBIs on three appearances at the plate.
The boys travel to China Spring on March 20.
