Mason Gerrard hit a walk-off RBI single to lift the Lake Belton Mustangs over the Salado Eagles, 3-2, on April 9.
The loss drops Salado to 10-12 on the year and 4-8 in District play.
The Eagles host Burnet on April 16 and Gateway on April 20 before traveling to Georgetown to face Gateway on their field April 23.
The Mustangs took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the third. Malakai McGehee singled with one out and went to third on a double by Connor Bartz. Both runners scored on an error that allowed Gerrard to reach second. He was left stranded.
The Eagles scored a run in the fourth when Kory Walker doubled to left. Nolan Williams was hit by the pitcher and then Kole Maedgen and Josh Adams walked to force in the run.
Drew Bird scored in the fifth after going all the way to third on an error by the Mustang third baseman. He scored on a ground out by Caden Strickland.
Salado left seven runners on base. They outhit Lake Belton 7-5.
In the extra inning, Salado went three up, three down.
Walker led the Eagles with two hits and a run. Maedgen had two hits.
Bird had a hit and a run while Williams and Logan Atchison both had a hit. Strickland had an RBI.
Strickland pitched 7 1/3 innings, striking out seven and giving up four hits and a walk. Two runs were scored, neither earned.
Williams got the loss on the mound, allowing a hit and a run in the eighth.
The Eagles lost to Belton, 6-1, in a home game April 2.
Salado had three hits in the game. Maedgen had two hits and an RBI to lead the Eagles. Williams had a hit and scored a run.
Brady Wilson got the loss on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing seven hits and four earned runs. He struck out four and walked five. Dillon McDaniel pitched an inning, giving up two earned runs with no hits and striking out one and walking two. Williams pitched an inning, allowing no hits, runs, or walks and striking out one.
