Eagles tied #2 Robinson, Dobbins throws no-hitter in West tournament
Drew Dobbins pitched a no-hitter against the host team West Trojans on March 2 to lead the Salado Eagles in the West Baseball Tournament March 1-3, where the Eagles went 2-0-2. The Eagles also forced the #2-ranked Robinson Rockets to accept a tie in the final game of the tournament on March 3.

Salado outhit the Robinson Rockets in the final game of the tournament, tying the state-ranked team 4-4. The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to force the tie.
Mac Miller led off the bottom of the final frame with a double to left field. Kade Maedgen walked to put runners on first and second.
Belton Farr singled to load the bases.
Ryan Oaks walked, pushing a runner over home plate to bring the score to 2-4.
Dustin Hawes fouled out for the first out with the bases still full.
Farr was picked off by the pitcher and short stop at second before Jacob Wilk walked to load the bases again.
Rustin Hale hit a grounder, but an error by the third baseman allowed Hale to reach first and courtesy runner Parker Shelley and Oaks to score, tying the game at 4-4.
With runners at the corners, Robinson got out of trouble when Dobbins fouled out for Salado.
Max Marin got the start for Salado, pitching four innings, allowing four hits and four runs and striking out three. Maedgen pitched in relief, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out two.
Salad outhit Robinson eight to five. Garnering hits for the Eagles were Farr and Miller, two hits each and Rustin Hale, Dobbins, Dustin Heath and Maedgen, one hit each. Oaks, Wilk, Hale, Dobbins and Maedgen all had 1 RBI in the game.
Salado 5
West 0
Salado shut out West in the penultimate round of the tournament as Dobbins threw 90 pitches over six innings, striking out 10 batters on Mach 2. He also allowed no run but the Salado defense committed two errors, preventing an otherwise perfect game on the mound for Dobbins.
Salado scored four runs in the third and a run in the sixth.
Jacob Wilk batted 3-for-4 and scored a run to lead the Eagles. Rustin Hale went 2-for-3, scoring a run. Dobbins was 2-for-4 at the plate with 2 RBI and scoring a run.
D Hawes and D Heath both had hits for Salado. Heath had 2 RBI.
Caldwell 1
Salado 5
Salado Eagles beat Caldwell 5-1 on Feb. 26 with Garrett Knight getting the win on the mound.
Knight pitched four innings, allowing three hits and no runs. He struck out seven batters.
The Eagles had seven hits in the game, led by Jacob Wilk, who went 2-for-2 and had 1 RBI.
Knight, Rustin Hale, D Hawes, D. Heath, Drew Dobbins and Ryan Oaks all had a hit in the game. Hawes, Knight and Mac Miller each batted in a run.
China Spring 1
Salado 1
China Spring scored a run in the top of the sixth to tie Salado in the first round of the West tournament on March 1.
Both teams had six hits in the game.
Ryan Oaks led Salado, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Dobbins was 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Eagles.
Jacob Wilk, D Hawes, and Mac Miller all had one hit.
Del Valle 1
Salado 3
Salado beat Del Valle 3-1 in a non-district game Feb. 26.
The Eagles scored runs in the first, third and sixth innings.
Ryan Oaks scored two runs on one hit and a walk.
Jacob Wilk batted 3-for-3 to lead Salado, knocking in 3 RBI including a homer.
Dustin Heath also had a hit for the Eagles.
Drew Dobbins pitched four innings, striking out seven batters and allowing no hits. Max Marin and Jacob Wilk also allowed no hits on the mound for Salado, striking out two each.
