Salado Eagles are in second place in district soccer following a 1-2 loss on the road to the Liberty Hill Panthers on Feb. 26.
The Eagles will face Florence on the road at 5:30 p.m. March 4. Salado carries a record of 11-5 and 4-2 in district into the match.
Goalkeeper Trey Sheppard had four saves in the game, but the relentless Liberty Hill attack resulted in two goals.
Forward Costas Loullis scored the one goal for Salado with an assist from outside midfielder John Dawson.
“We fought hard and played well,” Dawson said, “but in the end Liberty Hill worked hard to score the second goal. We couldn’t recover from the second goal.”

Salado JV Boys lost a home game to the Liberty Hill Panthers 2-1 on Feb. 25.
The Panthers scored first on a through ball and a defensive breakdown.
Salado tied the game when Jose Olvera made a pass across the top to Sam Shearer to score the goal.
With 15 minutes remaining in the second half, Liberty Hill scored the second goal of the evening putting them on top.
Salado fought back but could not find another goal that evening.
“The boys played well and had more opportunities than Liberty Hill but a few simple mistakes on defense, and the inability to finish up top left the Eagles in the loser’s bracket for the evening,” Coach Earl Bragg said.
Salado JV Boys play their final game of the season on the road in Lampasas 6:30 p.m. March 7.
Salado has a 16-10-2 record. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 68 goals to 45.
