Salado Eagles lost their chance at the fourth-place playoff spot for District 25-4A when they fell to the Lampasas Badgers 45-59 on Feb. 19 at Liberty Hill.
Salado took the early lead of 12-6 with three pointers by Justin Tatum and Preston Rosebrock and three goals by Anthony Young.
However, the Eagles could only score from the free throw line in the second quarter as Lampasas took the lead 21-18 at the half.
The Eagles’ scoring drought continued in the third quarter in which they had just four points. Lampasas added 27 points in the third to take a commanding 22-48 lead over Salado.
Preston Rosebrock scored 12 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as the Eagles scored 23 points to close the gap, but could not make up the 26 point lead the Badgers held.
Tatum followed Rosebrock with 10 points for Salado. Travor Stump scored nine point, Young scored six and Garrett Lightfoot and Willie Whigham scored two points each for Salado,
Tyler Shivers led the Badgers with 18 points while Jason Murphy had 15 for Lampasas.
The Badgers will face Wimberley, the first place team from District 26-4A. Taylor, the first place team from District 25-4A faces Canyon Lake, fourth place 26-4A. Liberty Hill, runner-up in District 25-4A, will play third-place La Vernia. Burnet, the third place 25-4A team, will play Navarro, second in District 26-4A.
