Salado falls to Jarrell and Shoemaker JV
Salado Eagles placed third in the Coach Smith Memorial Basketball Tournament on Dec. 3-5.
Preston Rosebrock, Justin Tatum and Peyton Kyburz were named to the All Tournament Team.

Salado Eagles fought the #10 Jarrell Cougars to a 23-23 tie in the first half of their first round game in the Coach Smith Memorial Basketball Tournament Dec. 3, but fell short 46-55.
The Eagles outscored Jarrell 10-8 in the first quarter. After tying at 23 in the second, Jarrell took the lead at 41-36 in the third quarter, thanks in part to a six point effort by Trevor Ledbetter. The Cougars added 14 in the fourth, while holding Salado to 10 points.
TJ Sykes led all scorers with 16 points for the Cougars.
Evan Wall was a terror beyond the arc with five three-pointers to lead Salado with 15 points.
Preston Rosebrock followed with 14 points.
Also scoring for Salado were Trevor Stump, nine points and Peyton Kyburz and Justin Tatum, four points each.

Salado 79
Paradise 58
Salado blew past Paradise 79-58 in the second round of the Coach Smith Tournament on Dec. 4 with five players scoring in double figures.
Rosebrock led all scorers with 24 points. He went to the free throw line four times and had five-of-six shooting there.
Tatum hit the charity stripe eight times for the Eagles, hitting 12-of-14 free throws and scoring 16 points for the Eagles.
Wall had 11 points, including three shots beyond the arc.
Stump had 10 points for the Eagles.
Willie Whigham had four points for Salado.
Salado 67
Lago Vista 30
Salado crushed Lago Vista in the third round of the tournament 67-30.
Salado led 16-10 in the first quarter and 31-20 at the half. The Eagles led 48-28 at the tend of three before shutting down Lago Vista in the fourth, outscoring the Vikings 19-2.
Rosebrock led all scorers with 20 points for the Eagles. Tatum followed with 17 points.
Also scoring for the Eagles were Stump, 10 points, Wigham, nine points, Kyburz, six points, and Wall and Phillip Sueoka, two points each.
Salado 63
Shoemaker JV 65
Salado Eagles started out strong against the Shoemaker JV in the final round of the Coach Smith Memorial Basketball Tournament Dec. 5, but ended up fading in the second half and falling by two points 63-65.
The Eagles missed a layup to tie the game with the clock running out.
Salado led at the end of the first 20-14 with Stump scoring seven points in the period. Rosebrock scored seven points in the second to lead Salado to a 39-28 halftime lead.
Shoemaker closed the gap to 44-49 in the third quarter before scoring 21 points in the fourth
Rosebrock led Salado scoring 21 points, including three from outside the arc.
Tatum followed with 12 points.
Whigham scored 10 points for Salado.
Also scoring for the Eagles were Stump, nine points, Wall, five points, Kyburz, four points and Garrett Lightfoot, two points.

Salado Eagles gave up 22 points in the fourth quarter to the Travis Rebels on the road Dec. 1., allowing the home team a last minute 644-62 win. The Eagles led 13-9 after the first and 28-22 at the half. Salado led by five points at the start of the fourth, 47-42.
Kyburz and Rosebrock led the Eagles with 15 points each. Also scoring for the Eagles were Tatum, 11 points, Well, nine points, Stump, seven points, Young, three points and Whigham, two points.
