Salado varsity Eagles swept a double-header from Caldwell varsity March 7 winning 7-3 and 10-5.

The Eagles scored three runs in the top of the third inning and never reliquished their lead in the 7-3 win in the first half of their double header with Caldwell.
Zach Marsh led off by reaching first on an error. He went to second on a wild pitch. A single by Colby Gilpin and a walk issued to Kyle King loaded the bases. Jacob Little’s single scored Marsh and kept the bases loaded. Gilpin scored on a walk and a sacrifice by Kyle King plated a runner.
In the fifth, Little singled, stole second and scored on an error.
Preston Payne singled to lead off a three-run seventh inning frame. He stole second and went to third on a single by King, who stole second before Little tripled to score both runners. Little scored on a double by Garrett Lightfoot.
Caldwell scored three runs in teh fourth inning. Aiden Hosea reached first on an error and advanced on a single by Ethan Ray. A second error in the inningallowed Hosea to score. Ethan Blinka grounded out to score a runner and Nathan Cunningham singled to score a runner.
Little led the team going 3-of-4 with 3 RBIs. Lightfoot had 2 RBIs with a 1-of-3 effort. Cody Wollf and Gilpin both knocked in runs.
Basham pitched six innings for the win, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out seven batters. Peyton Kyburz pitched in relief, striking out two in the final inning.

Salad Eagles allowed no hits in their second game with Caldwell, but gave up five runs in their 10-5 win on the road March 6.
Cody Wolff pitche 3-2/3 innings, striking out 10 Caldwell batters. He walked three and allowed no earned runs.
Also pitching for Salado were Colby Gilpin, who struck out two and allowed no runs to score and who struck out two but gave up two earned runs.
Salado scored three runs in the first inning, taking advantage of three walks and singles by Kyle King, Cody Wolff and Colton Price.
The Eagles added runs in the second and third inning but put the game away in the fifth with four runs. Preston Payne hit a double to score two runs with one out in the fifth. He scored on a single by Kyle King, who was put out at second on fielder’s choice by Jacob Little, who scored on a twp-out triple by Basham.
Peyton Kyburz scored in the seventh after walking and going to second on a wild pitch. He scored on a single by Cody Wolff.
Wolff had three hits and 2 RBIs and five plate appeareances.
Basham and Payne both had 2 RBIs in the game.
