Salado Eagles took second place in the Academy basketball tournament in December, losing to Waco Connally, 60-45, in the final game Dec. 11. The Eagles lost to Rogers, 50-45, last week in a non-conference game.

Salado Eagles cruised past the Grandview Zebras, 76-40, in the first round of the tournament,
The Eagles led 20-13 after the first, 39-24 at the half and 61-34 to start the fourth quarter.
Josh Goings hit 12 of his 25 shots from the field and led the Eagles with 33 points. He also had 4 rebounds, 6 steals, 5 deflections and an assist.
Darius Wilson also had double figures for Salado with 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field. He had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

Salado Eagles jumped out to a 41-23 lead in the first half of their second round game against Gatesville and went on to win 77-62.
Goings had a hot hand, making 10 of his 14 shots from the field, to lead Salado with 29 points. He was perfect at the free throw line making all six shots and hit 3-of-5 three-pointers.
Goings also collected 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 8 deflections and a steal.
Stump was 5-of-11 to score 12 points. He had 9 rebounds and 2 deflections.
Self had double figures with 11 points, as well as collecting 2 rebounds, 2 assists, a deflection, a steal and a block.

Connally 60
Salado fell to Connally 60-45 in the championship round of the tournament. Connally led 27-25 at the half before blowing out the third quarter, outscoring Salado 17-7.
The Cadets shot 47% on two-point attempts and held Salado to 29% shooting on an equal number of shots, 29. Salado hit only two of 22 three-point shots while the Cadets made two of their 10 three-pointers.
The Cadets converted turnovers for 18 points while Salado scored just 4 points off of turnovers. The Eagles got 14 second chance points compared to 7 second chance points for the Cadets.
Goings led Salado with 25 points, hitting nine of 25 from the field. he also had 8 rebounds, an a deflection, a steal and a block.

Salado Eagles lost on the road to Rogers, 50-45, in a non-district game Dec. 7.
Rogers had a commanding 23-14 halftime lead before both teams found the basket in the second half. Salado outscored Rogers 31-27 in the second half, but came up short.
Ihler had a double-double to lead Salado with 14 points and 13 rebounds. he also had 2 deflections, 2 steals, 2 blocks and an assist.
Goings followed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and an assist.
Also scoring for the Eagles were Self, 6 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists; Wilson, 6 points and 7 rebounds; Sirmon, 3 points, 2 rebounds and an assist and Stump, 2 points, 3 rebounds and a deflection.
