Salado Eagles got two wins in the Celina Tournament before the rains of Spring Break ruined their chances for any other games last week.

In their first game, the Salado Eagles routed Pittsburgh Pirates 10-2, scoring two runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings and four runs in the sixth inning.
Chase Basham walked with an out in the top of the first and went to second on a single by Cody Wolf. Jacob Little reached first on a fielder’s choice that put Wolf out at second and Basham at third. Little stole second and an overthrow allowed him to round the bases to score.
The Eagles added two more in the fourth when Little walked and Garrett Lightfoot was hit by the pitcher. And error that allowed Preston Payne to reache first allowed Little to score and Lightfoot to go to third. Lightfoot and Payne both stole base with Payne crossing home plate. Barrett Snyder singled in the inning but was caught trying to steal home after advanding to third on a walk to Jacob Wilk and a Fielder’s Choice to Kyle King that put Payne out at home.
Basham led off the fifth with a single and went to third on a double by Wolf. He scored on a Fielder’s Choice that put Little at first. Payne scored Little on a single to deep left before the final out was recorded.
Wilk led off the four-run sixth with a double followed by single by Zachary Marsh and Peyton Kyburz. A walk to Basham loaded the bases and Ryan Dunnahoo was hit by pitch to plate Marsh. Kyburz scored on a Fielder’s Choice to got th runner going to sceond and Basham scored on the throw to home.
Wolf earned the win on the mound, striking out five batters, allowing one hit and one earned run.

Salado Eagles scored seven runs in the second inning on the way to annihilating North Lamar High School 9-0 in the second round of the Celina Tournament.
The Eagles scored an early run in the game in the bottom of the first. Preston Payne walked and went to third on a double to deep left by Chase Basham. He scored on a Fielder’s Choice hit to the shortstop by Cody Wolf.
With one out in the second, Jacob Wilk led off the seven-run effort with a single. Back-to-back errors loaded the bases with Wilk at third, Colby Gilpin at second and Payne at first. Basham was hit by a pitch to score Wilk. An error allowed Wolf to got to first and scored Gilpin. Zachary Marsh hit a two-run single. He went to second on a groundout and scored on a double by Wilk.
