The 24th Annual Wildflower Arts & Crafts Festival is hosted by The Salado Chamber of Commerce. During the event, The Salado Historical Society will open the doors of the circa 1850 Boles-Aiken Log Cabin and the 1867 Denman Cabin. This special event is scheduled March 23-24 at the Salado Civic Center at 601 North Main Street. The festival celebrates artistic creativity while ushering in the spring season. 

Everyone will have the opportunity to explore the Boles-Aiken Log Cabin, meticulously reconstructed and restored to its original 1850 configuration in 1991. This historical cabin was discovered hidden in the walls of an old home on Center Circle Road in Salado, Texas. The restoration team, guided by the Texas Historical Commission’s directives, included Charles Abbitt, Lonnie Edwards, James Poppell, Bob Stewart, Jose Barraza, Don Holloway, and Steve Wesson.

The Denman Cabin, built in 1867 by Moses H. Denman in Sparta, Texas, has its own fascinating journey. Having been relocated to Belton in 1950, then to Troy after 1977, then in front of The Barton House in 1982. The cabin found its permanent home in 1996 behind the Civic Center in Salado after being donated to The Salado Historical Society. 

Both cabins, located side by side, offer a glimpse into the rich history of Salado. Soon, the Salado Historical Society plans to move the 1908 Old Church Place next to these cabins, creating a historical enclave for the community. 

The Salado Historical Society invites everyone to step into history as they explore the Boles-Aiken Log Cabin and the Denman Cabin during the 24th Wildflower Arts & Crafts Festival. The festival hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. March 23, and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 24.
