Salado Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering brings award-winning performers to Salado every May.
The event will kick off 7 p.m. May 5 at Barrow Brewing with a jam featuring all of the performers who will sing one or two songs or share a story for the audience.
Stroll through the Farmers’ Market at Barrow Brewing 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 6 while enjoying free entertainment by various performers.
The Gathering will feature several pop-up performances beginning at 10:30 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 These performances are free of charge. Locations will include these: Wells Gallery, The Nature Company, The Shed, Shoppes on Main Boutique and the Stagecoach Restaurant.
Trolleys will transport folks all along Main Street and Royal St.
As of presstime for the magazine, following is the schedule of pop-up performances:
10:30-11:45: Shoppes on Main, Kristyn Harris.
11:30 a.m-12:30 p.m.: The Shed, Doug Figgs.
11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Stagecoach Restaurant, Don Cadden.
1-2 p.m.: Wells Gallery, Jeff Gore.
2:15-3 p.m.: The Nature Co. of Salado, Jim Jones and Doug Figgs.
Check the event website or pick up a shop and sing schedule Saturday morning at Barrow Brewing Co.’s Farmers Market. The gathering will have an information tent near the entrance beginning at 9:30 a.m.
A special children’s program will feature Western entertainer Jim Jones, who will share his stories and songs. His performance is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday May 6 at Salado Public Library.
The western poetry team from Carl Farley’s Boys and Girls Ranch will perform at a 1 p.m. matinee Saturday May 6. Don Cadden, Kristyn Harris, Floyd and Valerie Beard, Straw Berry and Washtub Jerry will all perform during the matinee concert.

Heritage Country Church, 9677 Lark Trail, Salado, will host a BBQ Dinner 5-6:30 p.m. Plates are $20 each. For reservations, please call 254-239-7106.
Following the BBQ, Heritage Country Church will host a Concert featuring Doug Figgs, Jeff Gore, Jim Jones, Terry Nash and Washtub Jerry. Tickets for the evening concert at $25 per person and can be purchased at centraltexastickets.com.
Enjoy doughnuts, coffee and chat with the folks at Heritage Country Church beginning at 9:30 a.m. Sunday May 7.
