This Halloween season, the Tablerock Festival of Salado invites you to experience a nostalgic and musical evening of incredible professional entertainment with The Grand Ol’ Halloween Show, a spectacular blend of live music, comedy, and vintage radio charm. Join us for an unforgettable night as gates open at 6:00 PM with concessions, beer, and wine available before the show begins at 7:00 PM.
The Grand Ol’ Halloween Show is the brainchild of Salado’s very own Will Hearn, and it promises to deliver top-notch entertainment. The show features a talented ensemble of Texas musicians, including a 10-piece Radio Orchestra with members from the San Antonio-based Dirty River Jazz Band and headliners Blue Water Highway. Get ready for a few spooky surprises as beloved characters like Frankenstein and Punky the Pumpkin make surprise appearances, ensuring fun and laughter for all ages.
Will Hearn’s journey to Salado has been filled with musical milestones. After moving from the Houston area with his wife Jenna and their two children, Hearn sought out the close-knit, small-town community vibe that he grew up in. His deep-rooted love for music and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to create The Grand Ol’ Production Company. Will’s musical journey began in high school with his friends Greg Essington and Zach Kibodeaux, where they wrote their first Christmas show for charity. “Tickets were $2, and it was a huge success,” Hearn recalls.
Having grown up in Lake Jackson, home to the longest-operating community theater on the Gulf Coast, Hearn’s passion for the arts was ignited when he began volunteering at the age of 13. His love for community-led productions made the discovery of Tablerock serendipitous, as he connected with volunteers eager for more community involvement. “I knew this would be an opportunity to use my unique blend of skills and deep commitment to arts education and community service to creatively contribute to Tablerock’s mission,” Hearn shares.
The success of Hearn’s early productions eventually led to the creation of a series of shows, including The Grand Ol’ Halloween Show, The Grand Ol’ Christmas Show, and The Grand Ol’ Americana Show. “We started with the Christmas show, and as our audiences grew, we developed the Halloween show,” says Hearn. “It’s all about fun, nostalgia, and adding a few surprises along the way.”
In 2020, Hearn’s production company earned a prestigious spot on the Texas Commission on the Arts’ Texas Touring Roster, and by the end of 2024, the once Texas-exclusive company will expand to North Carolina and six other states. “I’m thrilled to present this show to our community. It’s a big production, with live music, set pieces, and plenty of Halloween fun,” Hearn enthuses.
