Forrest L. Holloway, Jr.
Forrest L. Holloway, Jr., 78, of Georgetown and formerly of Salado, passed away January 12, 2023.
Forrest was born in Phoenix, Arizona.
He was reared in Sweetwater, Texas, where he graduated from Sweetwater High School and received his B.A. from Angelo State University. After serving his country during the Vietnam Conflict, he returned to civilian life where he earned his Masters Degree from Texas Tech University and worked toward his Ph.D. in Fine Arts Management. He was an instructor in the Angelo State University Theatre and Speech department.
He joined the Texas Army National Guard as an active duty soldier. He did tours with Eighth Army in Korea; Texas Military Forces at Campy Mabry, Austin, Texas; Sixth Army at The Presidio of San Francisco; The National Guard Professional Education Center, North Little Rock, Arkansas; and the U.S. Army Pacific Headquarters, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.
Among his numerous decorations and awards are the Meritorious Service Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medals, Army Superior Unit Award, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Army Good Conduct Medal.
Additionally, Forrest was a a member of the San Gabriel Masonic Lodge No. 89 in Georgetown. He was also a Shriner for 34 years and a member of the Ben Hur Shriners in Austin.
In 2003, Forrest retired from the Army. He worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, a global strategy and technology consulting firm.
He moved with his wife Theresa to Salado, where he worked remotely and traveled extensively. He was elected to the Salado Board of Aldermen.
The Holloways moved to Rockport and then to Sun City in Georgetown.
Forrest is survived by his wife of 54 years, Theresa of Georgetown; his daughters Trisha Kendall and husband Ken of Lakeway; Tina Holloway of Round Rock; and sister Joyce Holloway of Liberty Hill.
Ramsey Funeral Home will provide cremation services. The family will lovingly take his ashes to Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. On March 23, Forrest’s birthday, a Celebration of Life will be held in Georgetown where all can come to raise a glass.
