Memorial services were held for Frances L. Carroll, age 86, of Salado, at the Red Oak Cemetery, Red Oak, Texas, on April 15. She passed away April 12, 2013 at Cornerstone Gardens in Temple.
Frances Louise Parker was born on October 12, 1926, to John and Vivian Parker on Grape Creek Ranch near Talpa, Coleman County, Texas. She attended Talpa schools, graduating from Talpa High School in 1944. She later attended business school in Abilene, holding various jobs there.
She married WWII veteran James D. Carroll on November 8, 1946, in Talpa. The couple moved to East Texas so James D. could attend college from which he graduated in 1950. They moved back to Coleman County where their first two children were born. In 1956, the family moved to Dallas County, living in Dallas and then Irving, and then moved to Red Oak in Ellis County 1969. James D. died in 1981 and Frances remained in Red Oak until she moved to Salado in 2003.
She first served as a church pianist at age twelve and continued to serve in that position at several churches in her adult years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James D., one brother, J.B. Parker, and her youngest son, Gary. She is survived by son James W. Carroll and wife Linda of Salado, daughter Lisa K. Rethemeyer and husband Chris of Hermann, Missouri, daughter-in-law Carol Carroll of Fort Worth, 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three nieces, and her first cousin and sister-in-law, Jane Parker Carroll of Jacksonville, Texas.
