Frances Marie Falkner

Frances Marie Falkner, age 91, died August 28, 2011 in Belton, Texas.  Frances was born August 17, 1920 in Waco, Texas to James M. Blackwell and Zelda Boyd Blackwell.  She was descended from a pioneering family with roots in McLennan County dating back to 1850.

  Frances was reared and educated in Waco, Texas and in 1937, married the love of her life, James C. Falkner who preceded her in death in 2006.  They shared 70 wonderful years together, residing in Dallas until retiring to Mill Creek, Salado, in 1984.

  James Falkner was a dog show judge and they traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.  Frances was a member of First Baptist Church, Salado Village Artists, Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Salado Chamber of Commerce, Mill Creek Community Association, Honorary member of the Texas Kennel Club, and the Dallas Obedience Training Club. 

  Visitation will be at Dossman Funeral Home, Belton on August 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.  Services will be held at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Salado on, Wednesday, August 31, with Rev. W.D. Broadway presiding.  Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco.  Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Salado.
