Frank Thomas “Tom” Runyon

Frank Thomas “Tom” Runyon age 85 of Salado passed away December 11, 2013.

Services were held Dec. 15 at the Chapel of the First Methodist Church of Salado with Margaret Clemings of Odyssey Hospice officiating. Interment follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Gardens in Burnet.

Runyon was born on December 9, 1928 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Frank S. and Ethelyn B. Runyon. His siblings were Ann Whanger and John Runyon.

He married Mary Bernice Hughes on June 16, 1951. He and Mary were married for 54 years when she passed away.

Runyon earned a bachelor in business from the University of Iowa.

A veteran of World War II, Runyon was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. He retired as the purchasing manager for Texas Instruments in Temple.

He was a lifetime member of the PTA. He was also active in the Methodist church, volunteered with the Corps of Engineer parks in Temple and Belton and volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Paul and Janice Runyon of Salado, daughter and son-in-law Delinda amd John Thomas of Taylor, daughter Ruth Wenzel of Buda, daughter and son-in-law Sally and Rip Phillips, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren with another on the way. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
