Private Gregory Anthony Salas

Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died October 14, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Temple.

Private Gregory Anthony Salas, 27, whose home of record is listed as Alamogordo, N.M., entered active-duty service in October 2005 as an armament/electrical/avionic systems repairer.  He was assigned to 4th Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment, 1st Air Cavalry Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, since July 2007.

Salas deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from April 2009 to April 2010.

Salas’ awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, three Army Achievement Medals, Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.
