Going into district play, which began this week, the Salado Lady Eagles carry an undefeated record of 12-0 in soccer with a 4-0 win last week over Giddings.
Forward Sara Wilkerson scored a goal for the girls in the Feb. 3 win on the road over Giddings. Midfielder China Saxton scored a goal, forward Reagan Morrealle scored a goal and Katey Ewton scored a goal on a corner kick. Outside midfielder Jessica Ringstaff had two assists and Kristin Crouch had an assist.
“We were looking forward to the challenge of playing this Giddings team,” Coach Karen Ewton said. “The girls were focused on keeping their record intact, and they worked together to win the match.”
The girls opened district play at home against Gateway Prep (held after press time for this edition) and will travel to play Robinson Feb. 13. Going into district play, the girls are 12-0 on the year.
JV Girls
Salado junior varsity Lady Eagles beat the Gatesville Lady Hornets 7-1 Feb. 2 in a home soccer game.
Forward Madison Matsi scored two goals and an assist to lead the team. Raghnild Bele, outside midfielder, added a goal and an assist. Ryle Stewart, outside midfielder, also had a goal and an assist in the match. Also scoring goals for the Lady Eagles were these: outside midfielder Perla Perez, midfielder Clarissa Gonzalez and forward Candace Brown. Maritza Villagranco contributed an assist.
“The girls worked hard for this win, and worked successfully together to create scoring opportunities,” Coach Karen Ewton said. The JV girls are 3-1 so far this year.
