Salado Eagles’ basketball season came to an end at the hands of Boerne Greyhounds in the bi-district round of the playoffs, as the Greyhounds beat Salado 59-42 in Dripping Springs on Feb. 25.
Reece Brown and Cade Scallin each had eight points in the first quarter as Salado led 18-13, but the Greyhounds took control of the game in the second quarter, leading 30-21 at the half.
Salado only managed four points in the third as Boerne took a 46-25 lead into the fourth.
The Eagles outscored Boerne 17-13 in the fourth.
Brown and Shane Roché led Salado with 11 points each. Scallin followed with 10 points. Peyton Miller and Eli Pittman had four points each and Josh Goings had 2 points.
Eagles fight way into 4A playoffs
Salado Eagles came on strong in the second half of their tie-breaker game with the Lampasas Badgers on Feb. 21 to determine the fourth-place team in District 27-4A.
The Eagles outscored Lampasas 18-11 in the third and 16-12 in the fourth to keep their lead and win 66-52. Salado led 18-16 after the first and 32-29 at the half.
Eli Pittman led Salado, shooting five-of-seven free throws and scoring 16 points. Josh Goings scored 8 of his 13 points in the first quarter. Reece Brown scored all of his 12 points in the third to lead the Eagles’ offensive charge in the second half. Cade Scallin followed with 11 points.
Also scoring were Peyton Miller and Noah Mescher, 5 points each and Caleb Self, 4 points.
