Lloyd Andrew Harper passes away at age 82
Lloyd Andrew Harper of Salado, formally of McGregor a’lld Pelham, New York, died Feb. 25 at his Salado home at the age of 82. Reverend Marilyn Legge will officiate at the services to be held 2:30 p.m. March 3 at the First United Methodist Church in Salado.
Mr. Harper was born July 27, 1917, in McGregor, the son of the late Lloyd and Harriet (Mills) Harper. He was a 1935 graduate of McGregor High School and earned a B.B.A. from the University of Texas in Austin in 1938. On Dec. 15, 1940, he married Martha Williams in McGregor. Mr. Harper began his career with Texaco, Inc. in Houston shortly after graduation.
He spent 18 years in Caracas, Venezuela and 22 years in New York in the comptroller and treasurer of American Overseas Petroleum Company (AMOSEAS), a subsidiary of Texaco and Standard Oil of California (SOCAL). Since his retirement, he has resided in Salado. He served as treasurer of the Lion’s Club for many years.
Survivors include his wife Martha; their children Barbara and Robert and two grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Sims of McGregor, Margaret Berkley of Danbury, Connecticut.
Services will be held 2:30 p.m. March 3 at the First United Methodist Church in Salado.
