Ford F-150 leads police on chase through central Texas

Pursuit ends on I-35 in Salado

Several DPS and Salado Police stopped a white male suspect after he allgededly led DPS on a high speed chase from south of Georgetown to the 284 mile marker in Salado. The suspect was in custody at about 11:45 a.m. today (March 14).

The suspect was driving a grey Ford F-150 pickup truck. 

According to witnesses, the tires on the truck were blown out from about the I-35 and Hwy 195 area in northern Georgetown. By the time the driver stopped, both tires on the passenger’s side were off and the rims had collapsed.

“Oh yeah, he was on rims (in Georgetown) and they already had the helicopter and about a dozen DPS cars on him at that point,”  Arthur Vasquez, a resident of Pflugerville who saw the chase in Georgetown, told Salado Village Voice on the scene in Salado.

Another witness told Salado Village Voice that “he blew past us in Jarrell doing at least 90 or more.”

The scene is causing traffic to back up on both sides of I-35 as southbound travelers rubber neck the scene.

Access roads are also busy with passersby.

According to Salado Police Chief Jack Hensley, the suspect allegedly refused to stop for a traffic violation and led police. He said it was not in connection to the police search stemming from the shooting in Temple.
