The annual Salado Historical Society chili supper will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Salado Church of Christ Fellowship Hall, located at 217 North Stagecoach Road in Salado. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
Craig Ordner, the Archivist of the Temple Railroad and Heritage Museum, will entertain us with tales and adventures in the vast collection in the Fred and Dale Springer Archives at the museum and provide information on materials available for research. Craig, a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, has been with the museum since January, 2000 and also served as the Interim Director from November 2012 to February 28, 2013 and archivist/curator from 2007 to 2010. He has expanded the collection and created new systems to make researching easier.
The Chili Supper, which is held on the first Monday of November every year, is also the annual membership meeting for the Salado Historical Society and is open to the public. Hulda Horton’s famous Chili will be served and guests are welcome to bring complementary salads, breads or desserts.
There will also be information on the 2016 Salado Christmas Home Tour.
