Holland passes away at age 88
Services for Sadie Lou Holland, 88, of Salado, were Aug. 2 at Heartfield Funeral Home with Rev. Skip Blancett and Rev. Joe Bentley officiating. Mrs. Holland was buried at Salado Cemetery. She died July 30 at a Temple hospital.
Sadie Lou Holland was born in Belton to Clinton Lighter and Eunice Irene Solomon Jones. She graduated from Temple High School.
She married Ellis White Holland in 1934 and moved to Salado. She was a member of the Salado First United Methodist Church, where she was actively involved in the United Methodist Women and the Salado Monday Club. She was a past member of the Salado Village Artists and an honorary lifetime member of the Salado Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was the Grand Marshall for the First Annual Salado Christmas Parade.
Mrs. Holland was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis White Holland, by an infant daughter, Alma Lucilll:, and a brother, Ferrell Jones.
Survivors include her daughter Weeta Evans, of Salado; two grand-daughters, Angelyn Schuster, of Salinas, CA, and Erika Shampo, of Lafayette, LA, and five great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Salado First United Methodist Church or the Salado Cemetery Association. Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton was in charge of arrangements.
