Lewis passes away at age 68
Services for Billy Lewis Hyer, 68, of Belton, were held Aug. 12 in the Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Johnson officiating. Burial was in the north Belton cemetery.
Hyer died Aug. 8 at his residence.
He was born on March 30, 1934 in Belton to Odell and Corinne Digby Hyer. Hyer graduated from Belton High School in 1951 and served in the United States Army in the early 1950’s. He married Judy Scates-Doughty on April 23, 1982 in Belton. Hyer retired from the engineering department at Scott and White Hospital in 1997. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belton.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Hyer of Belton; two sons, Todd Hyer of Belton and Bill Doughty of Round Rock; two daughters, Julie Turner of Ft. Worth and Jan McGuire of Belton; one brother, Mack Hyer of Rosanky, Texas; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation was held Aug. 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton.
