James Cecil Havens
James Cecil Havens, 89, of Salado passed away March 27, 2009 in a local hospital. Funeral services were held March 30 at Heartfield Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James Haney officiated. Internment followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
Havens was born on August 31, 1919 in Bell County to the late Jeff and Ada Havens. He was the eighth child of eleven children. There were five boys and six girls. He married Bernice Hamrick on August 1, 1958 and they were married for 32 years.
Cecil was a veteran of World Ward II serving in the Pacific. After returning home, he bought a stock farm which he operated for many years while working for Griggs Equipment Company and Bell County Road and Bridge Department before retiring.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
His wife, four brothers, Truman, Pat, Dale and Harrell Haves; and six sisters, Lila Boyd, Myrtle Jones, Bertha Jones, Willie Mae Phillips, Violet Daniels and Jewel Marie-preceded him in death.
Visitation was held at Heartfield Funeral Home in Belton.
Memorials may be made to Scott & White Hospice. Arrangements were under the direction of Heartfield Funeral Home.
