Belton— Memorial services for John D. ‘J. D.’ Hinsley, 88, of Salado will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, December 17, 2012, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Leroy Kemp officiating.
Mr. Hinsley died Thursday evening, December 13, 2012 at his home in Salado.
Mr. Hinsley was born at home in Bell County, August 27, 1924, the son of Dean C. and Laura (England) Hinsley. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army from 1942-1944. He married Patsy Williams July 11, 1946 in Prairie Dell. They made their home on Gulf Coast in Galveston for nine years and LaMarque for more than 25 years. Mr. Hinsley worked for Union Carbide in Texas City in the Research and Development Department. He retired in 1980 after 23 years. After retirement they moved home to Salado. He also enjoyed making custom guitars. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Salado.
Mr. Hinsley was preceded in death by his daughter Helen D. Hinsley Gerges in 1960 and his wife Patsy Hinsley 2009.
Survivors include children of his heart David and Sharon Blacklock of Waco and Edie Street of Carrollton. Five grandchildren Jack Moore, J. D. Blacklock, Candace Blacklock, Mariel Street and Marco Street and four great grandchildren. Mr. Hinsley enjoyed the love and admiration of many nieces, nephews and extended family.
