Joyce Ann (Smith) Pershall left this earthly home at 7:14 PM on February 8, 2021 to her final resting place in Heaven.
Joyce was born the first daughter of Arthur V. and Helen Francis Smith on August 8, 1929 at Wetumka, Hughes County, Oklahoma. Joyce received her first education in the Wetumka school system. Her family moved to north central Oklahoma, Osage County, attending Shidler and Fairfax High School.
She met Wesley Pershall while attending Shidler High School. After Wes returned from World War II they were married on May, 6, 1948 at First Christian Church in Fairfax. A marriage that was to span 72 years, 9 months, and 2 days.
On September 14, 1951 their son was born, quickly becoming the pride and joy of her life for the next 69+ years.
Joyce was a professional dental technician during her working career. She was a perfectionist in all that she did, a true golfer, perfect mother, a friend to everyone, and one of the most dramatic quilters that could be. She insured that every bride had a wedding quilt, each grandchild and great grandchild had a baby quilt, and just for kicks she made 40 or 50 extra ones for friends. She entered Oklahoma and Texas quilt competitions winning many. In her home she always revealed those shining stars and they could be seen throughout her home. Joyce was a member of Salado United Methodist Church, a dedicated worker and a true Christian. She spent many hours working at the Salado Food Bank.
Joyce leaves behind her husband Wesley, son John Wesley and wife Kathy of Temple, a grandson JR and wife Chelsea, their children Carter, Robbie, and Elizabeth of Robinson, Texas. A grandson David and wife Katie, their children Samuel, Rachel, and Violet of Manlius New York. A granddaughter Joy and husband Chase, their children Wilder and Smith of Nashville, Tennessee.
During this challenging period Joyce had excellent care provided by Care Age and Home Care, and BS&W Hospice, these professionals made her situation more bearable. A Memorial Service will be held in the Salado Methodist Church Chapel for family and invited guest at 10 a.m. on March 3, 2021.
