JLBC creates a memorable experience for young ladies who would not be able to attend their prom without generous community support and donations.
Temple: Junior League of Bell County is hosting their annual Project Prom event for the benefit of dozens of high school young ladies. Counselors and Communities in Schools representatives at schools throughout Bell County nominate seniors who have proven to be determined young ladies whose personal or financial circumstances may prevent them from participating in their high school’s prom.
For the 2015-2016 school year, the League expanded the project to include a prerequisite mentorship program. The program consisted of special events including a College & Career Speeding Dating Style Q&A with league members, a Personal Finance 101 class, and a Healthy Prom Prep class held at Titan Total Training (T3) with presentations from a local dietitian and dermatologist.
The invitation-only event is held annually at Second Hand Rose, JLBC’s headquarters. The space is transformed into an exclusive shopping experience for the young ladies. League members act as personal shoppers to help the girls find the perfect dress, shoes, accessories, and more. JLBC is asking the community for donations of all things Prom:
• New or gently used prom and graduation dresses in all sizes
• Jewelry, shoes, purses, wraps, and other accessories
• Gift certificates for cosmetology services, including hair and nails
All donations to Junior League of Bell County’s Project Prom are tax deductible and 100 percent of donations will go to support deserving young ladies in Bell County. Donations can be taken to Titan Total Training (T3) who has offered to be the 2016 drop-off location. T3 is open Mon. – Thur. from 5 a.m. – 7:30 p.m., Fri. from 5 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Sat. from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. The deadline for donations is Fri. Feb. 19.
