Community partners needed for cleaning up areas in the Village
In a community with only one maintenance worker, village volunteers are valuable assets. They help keep the Village tidy, but they must contend with lots of trash before they can mow and edge.
Keep Salado Beautiful has partnered with the Village to promote a project called Adopt-A-Spot, where a community group, neighborhood, friends, or family can “adopt” any given area for $25 (there is no charge for school groups.)
A sign will identify the spot and the sponsoring group, and the group will be asked to keep that spot with monthly or quarterly pick-ups for the year.
The Volunteers will be able to mow and trim, the donations will pay for the signs, and The Village will be free of litter.
The Salado High School Tennis Team is the first sponsoring group; the Tennis Team will sponsor the Tennis Courts.
Other Adopt-A-Spot locations include Sirena and the West-side Creek picnic area, the East-side Creek picnic area, Green Bridge, Salado Plaza Drive, the corner of Royal and Baines, Thomas Arnold and I-35, College Hill & Main, Pace Park, Sculpture Garden, Sherrill Park and Mill Creek Drive, and 1700 Old Mill Drive.
If you are interested in participating in the Adopt-A-Spot program, you may pick up an application form at the Village office or contact Keep Salado Beautiful at keepsaladobeautiful@yahoo.com for more information.
