Keep Salado Beautiful is looking for members to help grow the programs and accomplishments that it has had in the past year.
In the past year, Keep Salado Beautiful has worked on new and enhanced gardens at the Tourism building, College Hill Park and Sirena, installed lighting upgrades at the Sculpture Garden, staged three village-wide cleanup days and worked to pass a new litter control and waste ordinance.
A major program has been the initiation of the Adopt-a-Spot and Adopt-a-highway efforts to maintain a clean look for downtown.
KSB sponsored the Earth Day event in Pace Park in April during which it offered public workshops and handed out more than 500 education brochures on earth-friendly methods.
The group was awarded a $1,500 Texas Native Garden grant to beautify the College Hill Park gateway entrance and for use on outdoor education lab for SISD students.
The group also created a new website and self-walking tour brochure of Salado’s special sites.
For its efforts, KSB earned Gold Star status from Keep Texas Beautiful, the highest ranking given to local affiliates.
“If your membership has lapsed or you’ve never taken the time to join please consider doing so today,” Susan Terry said. “You will be joining an state recognized team with the vision to see Salado become the cleanest most beautiful city in Texas.”
Membership levels are $10 for students, $25 for families, $100 for Business and Sponsors and $500 for Benefactor.KSB is a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation and all membership and sponsorship donations are tax-deductible.
