Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children will host the 4th Annual “Kites for Kids” March 19, from 1 – 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
There will be kite flying, kite contests and kite crafts. Visitors can enjoy accessible activities such as parachute games, paved nature trails, miniature golf, arcade games, face painting, bouncy houses, historic log cabin, dinosaur-dig, mini-wall climb and more. They will also have a drawing for a Cinema Passport, which will enable the winner and a guest to attend a free movie a day throughout 2016.
The purpose of this event is for the public to enjoy all the activities at Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children, which are usually reserved for school groups, civic clubs, businesses and summer campers. Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom is a program of Variety, The Children’s Charity of Texas with a mission of empowering children with special needs throughout Texas.
Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children served over 5,000 children and their families last year. The retreat is located on 120 acres along the Lampasas River, South of Killeen, and offers environmental education field trips, weekend retreats and summer camps.

“Kites for Kids” will be held at Variety’s Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children at 19051 FM 2484, Killeen. From I-35, exit FM 2484 and go west ~15 miles. Entrance is on left, after the Lampasas River. From Highway 195, exit FM 2484 and go east ~4 miles. Entrance is on the right.
