Salado Lady Eagles, now ranked #1 in state by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, improved to 9-1 on the year with a 4-1 win over Gateway Prep on Jan. 26.
Forward Annie Ewton scored two goals and had an assist in the match to lead the Lady Eagles.
Outside Midfielders Sara Wilkerson and Brileigh Cole each scored a goal for the Lady Eagles.
Attacking Midfielder China Saxton provided two assists and Outside Midfielder provided an assist in the match.
“Even with the windy conditions, I’m very proud of how our team handled themselves during the game,” Senior China Saxton said. “The entire game our girls stood on the sideline cheering for the hard working players on the field. It’s a great way to start district, and I know that energy will continue the rest of the season.”
The girls will face Florence in a home district match at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 5.
Salado Lady Eagles JV soccer beat the Gonzales Lady Apaches 4-2 on the road Jan. 29 to improve to a 3-1-1 record, 1-1-1 in district play.
Midfielder Abby Quick scored a goal and an assist. Forward Riley Stewart scored a goal and had an assist. Forward Candace Brown scored a goal. Forward Ansley Flowers also scored a goal.
The JV girls play Harker Heights on the road 5 p.m. Feb. 8.
