Even though they were outhit by Hyde Park, the Salado Lady Eagles took advantage of them to win 10-5 on the road March 3.
Meagan Hill led off the game with a triple, scoring on a triple by Malory Schattle. Schattle scored on a two-out triple by Bailey Tindell to give Salado a 2-0 lead.
Schattle scored an unearned run thanks to an error in the third inning for a 3-0 lead.
Jenna Calder also scored due to Hyde Park error in the fourth inning. Payton Dreitz reached on an error in the fourth and scored on a double by Abbie James to take a 4-0 lead in the top of the inning.
Hyde Park closed the inning by scoring two runs. Kelsie Lowke hit a single and scoed on a double by Emily Womble who socred on an error.
Salado added three more in the fifth. Schattle led off the inning with a double. and Kristen Oakes walked. Both girls advanced on a passed ball before Bailey Tindell singled to right to score both runners. Tindell would score on a fielder’s choice for the second out of the inning.
The Lady Eagles scored their final two runs in the sixth ining. CeCe Cantu singled and advanced on a passed ball. Cantu scored on a single by Schattle. Schattle went to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Calder for a 10-2 lead.
Hyde Park added three runs in the bottom of the sixth collecting five singles off of Meagan Hill.
While Hyde Park tallied 11 hits off of Hill, she struck out five batters. Hill and her defense left runners stranded in the first, fifth and seventh innings.
Schattle led the Lady Eagles, going 3-of-4 with a single, double and triple and 2 RBIs. Tindell was 2-of-4 with a single and triple and 3 RBIs.
