Salado Lady Eagles won an intense match against their rivals Liberty Hill Lady Panthers 1-0 Feb. 26 on the road.
The win improves the Lady Eagles’ record to 16-1 and 8-0 in district, securing a playoff spot for the Lady Eagles. Despite the win, Salado fell to #2 in the most recent Texas Girls Coaches Association poll, behind Giddings with an 18-0-1 record.
Jessica Ringstaff scored the only goal in the game with an assist from forward Sara Wilkerson. Defender Morgan Bird and Goalkeeper Sam Isbell helped to keep the Lady Panthers from reaching the net.
“This game felt like a playoff game, with the atmosphere and the intensity,” Isbell said. “I knew when we were getting on the bus, it would be a good game, and we wanted to win this game for everyone who is supporting us. I walked on the field knowing that I would have to be the best I could be for my team. We could have played better, but we worked together and got the win. My team works hard every practice for games like that.”
The JV girls fell 4-0 to the Liberty Hill JV squad at home Feb. 25. Outstanding players of the game were Andrea Martinez–Defensive Midfielder; Ansley Flowers–Forward; Abby Quick–Midfielder; and Tabitha Mazo–Midfielder.
