Vaca named MVP of District 25-4A
Cheyenne Vaca was named the Most Valuable Player in District 25-4A All-District Volleyball team, leading the Salado Lady Eagles to a 30-8 and 8-2 district record as the second place team behind the Liberty Hill Lady Panthers.
Vaca led Salado with 42 Aces, 398 kills, 44 blocks and 264 digs in her final season as a Lady Eagle.
Senior Meagan Hill was named the Setter of the Year on the All-District Squad. She had 941 assists, 47 aces, 30 blocks and 264 digs for the Lady Eagles.
Coach Heather Shannon was named the Coach of the Year for coaching the team to a second place finish and a 30-8, 8-2 district record.
Senior Malory Schattle was named to the First Team All District. She recorded 37 aces, 186 kills, 96 blocks and 287 digs.
Senior Kierstan Osborn was also named to the First Team All District with 23 aces and 258 digs.
Junior Kerrigan Hearne had 10 aces and 281 digs to be named to the First Team Squad.
Senior Payton Dreitz was named to the Second Team All District with 84 kills, 48 blocks and 31 digs.
Junior Lindy Martin was also named Second Team All-District with 13 aces and 201 digs.
Receiving Honorable Mention were senior Amy Coleman, 5 aces, 21 digs; Junior Brianna Washington, 75 kills, 43 blocks and 54 digs and Tori Dekay, 119 kills, 23 blocks and 80 digs.
The Academic All-District Team was also released with these players named to it: Amy Coleman, Tori Dekay, Payton Dreitz, Kerrigan Hearne, Meagan Hill, Lindy Martin, Kierstan Osborn, Malory Schattle, Cheyenne Vaca and Brianna Washington.
