Salado Lady Eagles notched their first district win, beating the Taylor Lady Ducks 6-1 in a home game that was moved to March 23 due to inclement weather.
Meagan Hill had struck out five batters and not allowed a hit through two outs in the fourth inning when she walked Bailey Talley. Talley went to third on a single by Janay Reynolds and scored on a single by Bethany Alderete. Alderete had two of the four hits given up by the Lady Eagles in the game. All four hits were singles.
The Lady Eagles, on the other hand, had seven hits against two pitchers in the game, with Malory Schattle slugging out a third inning triple and a fourth inning two-run double.
Hill earned two walks, scoring on both thanks to doubles by Kristen Oakes and Schattle, and a sixth inning double.
Abbie James, Bailey Tindell and Jenna Calder all had singles from which they scored runs. Payton Dreitz knocked in Tindell and Madeline Murray hit a sacrifice to score Calder for two runs in the fifth.
Hill earned the win on the mound for Salado, pitching all seven innings and striking out eight batters. She walked five and allowed four hits. Taylor scored one earned run on Hill.
Salado dinged Talley for six hits and six earned runs through four innings before Cassidy Tatrow came in relief and allowed one hit and no runs through the final two Salado at-bats.
