Salado falls in three to Robinson, 26-24, 11-25, 25-27

Salado Lady Eagles fought the Robinson Lady Rockets to two extended matches in the first round of the Robinson Tournament Aug. 29, 26-24, 11-25, 25-27.

Taylor Atwood killed 10 shots at the net to lead the Lady Eagles. She was followed by Shyenne Hicks, 7 kills, Cheyenne Vaca and Meagan Hill, 2kills and Jaylee Sebek, Mallory Schattle and Sydney Wright, 1 kill each.

Hicks had 4 aces at the service line while Tori Laughland and Hill had an ace each.

Hill had 24 assists in the match. Hicks, Atwood and Sebek all had a block in the match

Salado sweeps Athens in two, 25-15, 25-14

The Lady Eagles swept Athens in two sets, 25-15 and 25-14 in the second round of the Robinson Tournament Aug. 29.

Hicks had 10 kills to lead the offensive attack. She was followed by Vaca, 6 kills, Atwood, 3 kills. Sebek, 2 kills and Taylor Valeriano, Hill and Shattle, 1 kill each.

Hicks also had 3 aces while Hill and Schattle had 2 aces  and Laughland and Vaca had 1 ace each.

Sebek blocked 2 shots and Atwood blocked 1.

Robinson takes second match against Salado, 16-25, 25-15 and 25-20.

In their second meeting of the day, Salado lost in three to Robinson, 25-16, 15-25 and 20-25.

Atwood led the offensive attack with 7 kills at the net, followed by Hicks, 5 kills, Vaca, 4 kills, Schattle, 3 kills, Sebek, 2 kills and Wright, 1 kills. 

Laughland, Hill and Hicks all had 2 aces, Wright had 1 ace. Vaca and Atwood each had a shot block.

Brentwood wins 7-25, 15-25, 9-25

Salado struggled with Brentwood Christian from Austin in the fourth round of the tourney, losing in three straight 7-25, 15-25 and 9-25.

Atwood had 5 kills to lead the net attack, followed by Hill 4 kills, Vaca, 2 kills, Schattle and Victoria Moseley, 1 kills each. Hicks and Atwood each had a service ace.

Lady Eagles beat Waco High 22-25, 25-21, 25-19

In the fourth game of the Robinson Tournament Aug. 31, Salado Lady Eagles beat the 5A Waco Lady Lions in three sets, 22-25, 25-21, 25-19.

Salado totaled 34 kills in the match with Vaca leading that attack at the net with 8 kills. Also registering kills in the Waco match were Atwood and Hicks, 6 each, Moseley, 5 and Valeriano and Hill, 1 each.

Laughland had 3 service aces to lead the team. Hill, Hicks and Vaca all had 2 acres and Moseley had 1 ace.  Scoring on their serves were Atwood, 10 points, Laughland and Hill, 7 points each, Hicks, 6 points, Vaca, 5 points, Moseley, 4 points and Valeriano, 2 points.

Schattle blocked 3 shots and Atwood blocked 1.

Hill had 32 assists for the Lady Eagles.

Lady Eagles dropped by LaVega, 25-16, 25-17

LaVega High swept the Lady Eagles in the fifth game of the Robinson Tournament Aug. 31, 25-16, 25-17.

The Lady Eagles had a hard time at the net, registering only 11 kills in the two sets. Atwood led the squad with 5 kills, followed by Hicks, 4 kills, Vaca and Hill, 1 kill each.

Laughland scored 2 services aces, while Vaca, Valeriano and Hill all had 1 kill.

Laughland scored 6 points off of her servce, followed by Vlaeriano and Hill, 3 service points, Atwood and Vaca, 2 service points and Hicks, 1 point.

Vaca registered the only blocked shot for Salado.
