Wimberley Lady Texans put an end to the Salado Lady Eagles season with a 55-36 at Leader Rouse High School Feb. 16 in the first round of the playoffs.
Salado is the fourth place team from District 25-4A and Wimberley is the first place in District 26AA.
The Lady Eagles trailed by just four points 15-19 in a low-scoring first half. Salado hit only two shots from the field in the first half.
Kerrigan Hearne went to the free throw line five times and scored eight points there to lead Salado.
Also scoring eight points for the Lady Eagles was Gema Vitolas.
Payton Dreitz followed with seven points, Sarah Kelarek and Paz Perez scored three points each and Danielle McDaniel scored one point.
Lexy Jones led the scoring with 19 points for the Lady Texans. Center Maengel Gonce followed with 11 points.
Wimberley lost to LaMarque in the second round 53-57. LaMarque (22-11) faces Liberty Hill (33-3) in the Regional Quarterfinal round this week.
